The output was 446 thousand tons, a year-on-year decrease of 40%, and consumption from 480 thousand tons to 393 thousand tons, unchanged from the average in the last five years, ending at 262 thousand tons, down 13% from the same period last year.

The ratio was 44%, an increase of 10% over the same period last year, mainly due to a sharp decline in global demand.

ICAC said that because the US Department of agriculture's latest Pima cotton production forecast has been reduced to 97 thousand tons, ICAC will continue to reduce the production of long staple cotton this year.
