After Foxconn's two pay rise, Shenzhen announced yesterday that it raised the minimum wage to 1100 yuan per month, which began in July of this year.

This is the first time that Shenzhen has realized the unified minimum wage standard of the whole city. Since the implementation of the minimum wage ordinance of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in 1994, the minimum wage in the Shenzhen special economic zone has been differentiated. The minimum wage standard of Baoan and Longgang increased by 22.2%, and the rest of the districts increased by 10%, an average increase of 15.8%.

"The current minimum wage standard in our city has a certain gap compared with the Yangtze River Delta region and Guangzhou City, and the relative advantage of the mainland has not been obvious. Since the beginning of this year, there has been a problem of recruitment difficulties in some enterprises. One of the reasons is that the wage level of our city does not have obvious advantages and attractiveness. Wang Min, director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of human resources and social security, said.

"The Foxconn incident has brought about a relatively large impact on Shenzhen, Guangdong and even the whole country. The occurrence of the Foxconn incident is a comprehensive one. From the perspective of government's labor supervision, we need to further strengthen it, especially to strictly investigate overtime work. Wang Min said.

At the same time as Shenzhen, Hunan also announced an increase in minimum wage standards, an average increase of 27.8%.

According to the "First Financial Daily" reporter statistics, this year, including Guangdong, Beijing and other 14 provinces and municipalities raised the minimum wage standard, after a simple calculation, the average increase of nearly 20%. Prior to the news conference held by the Ministry of human resources and social security in April 26th, press spokesman Yin Chengji said that in the first quarter, 7 provinces and municipalities had adjusted their minimum wage standards, and in 2010, 20 provinces and municipalities planned to adjust the minimum wage standard in a timely manner. At present, the plan has been completed by more than half.

Generally speaking, raising the minimum wage standard in all parts of the country will help adjust the distribution structure and change the trend of labor remuneration growth far below the GDP growth rate over the years, thereby stimulating consumption and expanding domestic demand. For enterprises, the increase of standards may increase the cost pressure of business operation.

"In fact, many of our enterprises have already exceeded the minimum wage standards." Cheng Fengyuan, President of Guangzhou Taiwan Funded Enterprises Association, told the newspaper that there are three ways to relieve the cost pressure. One is to increase the selling price of products by consulting with customers, but this is very difficult. The second is to increase the proportion of mechanized production, and to increase production efficiency and reduce other costs when raising wages. In addition, it is shifting to low labor costs, "there is no better way."

Wei Baoming, deputy inspector of the Guangzhou Federation of trade unions, said in an interview with the newspaper that although raising the minimum wage standard would result in an increase in the production costs of enterprises, the higher wages paid by enterprises must be recruited to those who are in line with higher wages, which in turn will enhance the production efficiency of enterprises.
