Sanjiang Source: Typical Degraded Grassland Vegetation Restoration Experiment Successful

The Northwest Institute of Plateau Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has revealed that the research on the vegetation restoration and the new technology of the typical degraded grassland in the source area of Sanjiang has been accepted by the Ministry of science and technology in the national scientific and technological research project jointly sponsored by the Institute and the Qinghai Academy of animal husbandry and veterinary sciences.

According to the introduction, researchers set up various vegetation restoration experimental demonstration zones on Typical Alpine Meadow degraded grasslands based on the characteristics of plant communities and soil conditions in mild degraded grassland, moderately degraded grassland and heavily degraded black soil beach in the source area of Sanjiang. According to the principle of soil testing and fertilizer recovery and the restoration of degraded vegetation, the application experiments and demonstrations of new green plant growth regulators, photosynthetic promoters, resistance promoters and chemical fertilizer compatibility were carried out.

The expert group estimated that the new green plant growth regulator compound technology and other new technologies had significant effect on pasture. The application of the best supporting application technology increased the vegetation coverage of the degraded grassland by 35% - 45%, and the forage yield increased by 25%. The proportion of fine grass in the light and medium degraded grassland could be increased by about 10%.
