The American clothing and Footwear Association (AAFA) has released the third edition of the global AAFA restricted substances list (RSL), which covers household textiles, clothing and footwear. The ASC restricted substances list was first released in the summer of 2007, the first of its kind to be released. The list includes chemicals and other substances contained in products, which are restricted by government regulations or legal circumstances. This list is considered to be the most restrictive alternative to international regulations. Every six months, the list is updated. The features of the third edition have changed little compared with the previous version. Future versions will include new additions, such as Spanish and Chinese translations, including national laws and regulations. In addition to the global list of restricted substances, the American Apparel and footwear association continues to provide training courses and lectures on the adjustment of restricted substances in textiles, clothing and footwear products.
