"I like Chinese goods, because this is a commodity for ordinary people," Benson Otieno, a salesperson at a store in Nairobi, capital of Kenya, told Xinhua.

Otieno believes that the Chinese people's electrical appliances, textiles, machinery and so on are "in line with the purchasing power of the masses".

Although Kenya has enjoyed rapid economic growth in recent years, nearly half of the people in the country live below the poverty line, with an average daily living cost of less than 1 dollars.

However, with the increasing price of Chinese goods entering the Kenya market, the purchasing power of the middle and low income groups has been improved.

Because of the cost of raw materials, labor costs and production efficiency, the prices of clothing enterprises in Kenya are expensive, and most local people can not afford them.

In the past, many people in Kenya could only buy second-hand clothing from Europe and the United States.

The arrival of Chinese clothing has made them an inexpensive choice.

Nowadays, in many shopping malls in Nairobi, you can see the quality and cheap clothes, and flip them on the label, usually printed with the word "Madein China (made in China)".

Many international brands of sportswear and shoes and shoes are also Chinese.

"Cheap Chinese goods can be found everywhere in Kenya, from kitchen utensils, shoes and hats to electrical appliances.

Almost half of the people in Nairobi are now wearing Chinese made clothing, "said Joseph Mutahi, a local businessman.

Otieno, a shop assistant, said that in his shop, Chinese goods sell better than those in other countries.

"Customers like Chinese products very much.

Chinese people are good at learning other people's strengths and improving them to create low cost goods, "he said.

Stephen Muonisi, a saleswoman, admitted that in the past, Chinese goods had given people the impression of cheap quality, such as shopping at electrical stores, and shoppers often asked: "Chinese, Japanese or British?"

Although the prices of commodities in Japan and Britain are much higher than those in China, they are more reliable in the eyes of local people.

"But in recent years, the image of Chinese commodities has improved greatly," he said.

"The Chinese have reduced the cost of manufacturing.

They can produce high quality goods at low cost, thus occupying the market in all parts of the world, "Margaret Asino, a media worker, told reporters.

Mose Kali, who runs Chinese goods in Nairobi, said: "I believe that Chinese people are brave enough to draw their own future in a direction different from western logic.

They produce goods for the poor, and construct a world different from the West with their own culture, wisdom and tradition. "
